Empowering Voices: Shelley Didonato Named Resident Council President
January 30, 2024
Saybrook Landing would like to congratulate Richelle "Shelley" Didonato, who was recently nominated by her peers to run as Resident Council President and won! Our Resident Council is like a warm gathering of friends, ensuring that each resident's voice is heard and valued. It creates an open space for communication, empowering residents to share their preferences and foster a sense of community. Through this friendly forum, residents actively contribute to decisions that shape their daily lives.
When asked why she agreed to run, Shelley said,
"I wanted to help make a difference. I wanted to make sure others get taken care of and get the help they need. And I want to help where I can." It's residents like Shelley that make Saybrook Landing the inviting home that it is to so many.
Shelley is one of our long-term care residents and chose our skilled nursing facility because her grandparents were two of the first 65 residents to be admitted to Saybrook Landing when we first opened. She added,
"I loved it when I would visit my grandparents. And thirteen years later, the facility still looks brand new!"
When asking her peers what made Shelley such a good candidate, one stated,
"She tells it the way it is, not the way you might want it to be told. She's honest and dependable, and that's who we want to represent us." Another resident and good friend of hers, Mr. Jenne, said,
"As far as human beings go, Shelley is the best person to do the job. Her heart is a caring heart! I think she's the best. That's who I want to be representing me."
Congratulations, Shelley!
